Its been a year almost since I moved over to the other website. I figured this account would have been deleted by then. It hasn't? Odd. At anyrate, http://threeincrediblecookies.com/sork/wordpress/
is a much better site anyways :p

Critical Mass [Nov. 15th, 2005|11:19 am]
[mood | contemplative]
[music |dmb - so much to say]

LJ will be gone soon.
www.threeincrediblecookies.com its where it is at.

I miss roleplaying.

My tiny creative side, that I normally keep locked in a cage, has been swelling with no release. I need either an orgy of roleplaying goodness, or I might have to turn to some other poison, like writing or beating kittens.

My livejournal account will be deleted shortly. : 0

The crazy thing about living in Washington is that you are bombarded by people's opinions all the time. An opinion, by definition can't be wrong, but it sure as hell can be ill-founded, random, or just completely opposed to you. I am good at listening to other people’s opinions, and even seeing where they are coming from. Where I fail at is my inability to not mock/comment when I find something so completely opposite from my own point of view. It just seems that everyone is out to make their opinion a law, or force it on other people. As much as I think libertarians are missing a few vital pieces to their ideology, the idea of ‘leave me the hell alone’ sounds better and better now adays.

Other topics that have been floating around on my mind: corporate feudalism, conservative fallacy, technological mishaps (poor sony), various plot lines for roleplaying campaigns, joining the peace core, grad school, housing at sru, friends at sru, various government conspiracies, a general paranoia, and being annoyed at why I can’t sit and get some work done.

Weekly Update [Oct. 17th, 2005|12:20 pm]
this is from www.threeincrediblecookies.com
you should go there. everyday. this LJ wont be around for ever!

Every week I write a journal for TWC about what I did at work (and play) the week before. I am just going to post mine for last week. No need to retype things twice!

By the way: diggis awesome.

I have tried to format it a little to make it look better ( I didnt paste well) but oh well. Deal.

Chris Chapman
Journal 6
My week was very busy. I have started to make web pages detailing every single step to the 1221 process. This is a monthly cycle of work, and I would say roughly 100 + steps total. I have just gotten perhaps the first 2 ‘parts’ done (roughly 20 steps each). The files will be posted on a little server someone has around the office, so that way if the person who regularly does it is out, or just can’t explain something very well, all the directions are there. I hope to test it on some other co-workers that have never done the process before to see if they can follow my directions. Eventually they want me to do step by step procedures for the Statement of Financing as well as the Statement of Net Costs.
I tried to help on of my fellow interns on a project, and did, but it was not good enough, so she took it back over. It wasn’t my fault, I didn’t do anything wrong, there was just a lot more work involved than I had time for. I made up for it by helping her out on another project for ½ hour or so.
I help one other account maintain some spreadsheets that track difference between our (DO) receivables and accounts payables to other inner agencies (BPD, OCC, etc) receivables and payables. Between all of these I stay pretty busy at work.
My tutoring session went better than my first week, but was still lacking. This week I just proctored tests to sixth graders. One girl was really smart and did hers in under an hour, a few kids just chugged along and did okay, and one kid would just not pay attention. He ended up just not finishing and turning it in. Luckily, my regular mentors are 5th graders that seemed to be a bit more focused. Next week we start into a regular lesson plan.
Regular class time was switched up this week due to the federal holiday, and when that happens, it means a bunch of people are skipping out. The 5 or so of us that show up have small group discussion about economic issues. This week’s topic was on Education, what is good, what is bad, and how to fix it. We more or less complained about the poor quality of K-12 education. We came up with a few ideas to fix it, but most would never work. They involved dissolving control from local school boards, and that seems 100% infeasible the way things are now. I liked the education topic more than manufacturing jobs. It could be because everyone in the class has gone through some education, and we can have discussions about it, or, just that manufacturing sector data is just mind numbingly boring.

D.C Nights [Sep. 25th, 2005|09:29 pm]
I went to a bouncing souls concert this weekend. It was damn cool. Actually, it was not a bouncing souls concert. It was a big anti-war rally, but I really was only there for the music. And what good music it was. Front, and center is a nice place to be. Greg, the lead singer (as I found out from the people chanting his name) came up and hugged everyone and jumped into the crowd. He did his best to start a riot, but a bunch of hippies just were not up for it.

Actually, I was really surprised by the people there. At one point, when people were really flipping out over some rap group I had never heard of, a kid slammed into another kid. I was expecting violence. Instead they talked it out, apologized, and went back to having a good time. How very odd.

There were a lot of cute girls there, but most of them were flipping out over a 'gay' band made up of 3 fairly attractive females; their songs were about coming out, and being proud and what not. I am going to bet the girls were not looking at me, but one another. Oh well...

Thats okay, I have a girl of my own. She is joining a sorority. Odd.

I am tired of these strange Naruto episodes. I want them to follow the manga again! It isn't so much that the series/spin off/random story arcs are not good, its just that when you have a more complete picture of whats going on, you see it doesn't quite fit with what the story was. I mean, its okay for them to play around a little, but it has been ½ a season or so that they have been avoiding the manga. Stop it! I really want to get to the stuff in the manga, and well.... I just don't care about this arc. I mean, who cares about the people Naruto saved? The whole plot line is rather weak, yet they are throwing a lot of characters that have the potential to be important, with out giving them good story lines and what not. They just left another old character out to dry w/ the last arc, and they will prob. do it again. Oh well...

I will not be updating both LJ and my new blog for much longer. Sorry LJ, you were fun while you lasted, but it is time for me to grow up.

I should be working, [Sep. 23rd, 2005|10:17 am]
Wednesday I went to a LUG. That would a linux user group for those who don’t know. Someone gave a little talk on securing a linux system. It was interesting. Afterwards, we went to go eat and talked about dorky things. Fun times to be had.

Thursday was boring; I got a lot of work done though. I cranked out some projects, so hopefully there will be something new to start on next week!

Speaking of next week I will be following around the Assistant Director or IT for DO on Monday. I have to meet him earlier than I am used to, so that means I have to wake up earlier. Grrr. It should be a fun day though, he is going to be showing me all the silly little IT things he does (and the whole department does).

On Saturday I hope to out and see a Bouncing Souls concert. They are playing as part of the anti-war crazyness so it will be fun to get all mixed up in that. There are a whole lot of people coming down to protest and what not, and then there is a huge concert line up (mostly ppl. I don’t know).

For those of you on my LJ account, go visit my new blog, www.threeincrediblecookies.com

I will be moving over there full time at some point. I need to brush up on my html skills and what not.

I have to write a ‘think piece’ for Monday on what I think the role of the government, private sector, and public sector is in economic affairs. I don’t think this will be too hard for me, I am a pretty opinionated individual, but I will have to spend some time on it. The work is starting to pile up quickly.

I have a very long to do list for this weekend. It is rather boring stuff too. Lots of cleaning and what not.

Fun weekends R' us [Sep. 18th, 2005|10:03 pm]
[mood | complacent]
[music |Fall Out Boy - Dance Dance]

Rocky and Colin came to visit this weekend. They didnt get in until really late on friday. I hung out with Rocky and the g/f all day on saturday, but colin ran off w/ his women. I think everyone had fun.

btw - colin and rocky have no driving skillz.

Work is alright. I got a private tour of our big treasury building and have set up another private tour of the Capitol. The work is still boring, but they are trying to keep me busy and challenged at least.

I watched Breakdown late last night. I enjoyed it. It might have been the fact I was helping move out of my g/fs old appartment to her new, and was tired, but hey! It was good at the time : )

I have to go to a lecture/Q&A with Thomas Foley. He was speaker of the house, and ambassador to japan and what not. I am not sure what he is going to talk about, but we will see. I have class tomorrow to. 7 am to 9 pm of work and stuff and class is a hard day.

*yawn* [Sep. 12th, 2005|10:33 pm]
[music |Fall Out Boy]

I had my first class today. It is also my only class.

The President, Congress, and Federal Agencies: Their role in meeting the economic challenges of the 21st century.

w00t. I get to read things like Manufacturing in America A comprehensive strategy to address the challenges to U.S manufactures, 21st Century Innovation, and securing our economic future: the white house conference on the economy! and thats just this week! I think it will be okay, the guy is a senior policy guy so at least he knows some stuff.

Work is still iffy. I have been throwing around the idea that accounting blows. But we shall see.

I helped fix some computer problems today w/ the roomies (about 50% of the problem, I wouldnt get in there to actually fix it, they have a dell... )

I ate well today! Fridays for dinner, and a sandwich for lunch. Tasty Tasty Tasty!

I am thinking instead of some fluf community service project I might over achieve and do something cool (aka time consuming). Any ideas?

Colin might come down. Should I be buying drinks? hmm....

I have this sneeky feeling my g/f is walking right into credit card hell. We are completely different in our money management styles. I do, she doesn't. >.<

I don't play enough video games here. I think I need more CS:S :)

more to come...

My pants are kinda wet [Sep. 8th, 2005|06:02 pm]
Cause they didnt finish drying last night. Oh well.

Work has been alright. Not the most exciting stuff in the world, but I am just getting started, and have not yet started to juggle a whole lot of stuff. The people I work w/ are cool, so that helps :)

The commute is a little long for my taste. 40 min each way. Although, once my class starts, that will be plenty of time to do my work.

I have to find some way to fit a civic project into my time. I havnt even started to look for groups to volunteer for.

My dinners have been boring. I eat sandwiches alot. Maybe I will make ramen tonight. Maybe.

more to come later...

BBQ Fun [Sep. 5th, 2005|12:35 pm]
[music |Fall Out Boy]

Yesterday I went to a BBQ. All of the people there were related to the justice side of the law, aka police officers and head police officers and policy making police officers. Needless to say, no one did anything too illegal : )

We played a game of football, chatted, and ATE. There was a whole lot of food.

Afterwards I went and saw the 40 year old virgin w/ our discounted movie tickets w/ the g/f. It was funny. Not as good as a movie as Wedding Crashers, but maybe more funny.

Today I hope to do a whole lot of nothing : )

A busy day... [Sep. 4th, 2005|01:48 am]
I spent the day w/ the g/f out running around seeing things and eating alot. I am tired from it all. I got an all day metro pass and I think it ended up saving me a whole lot of money, cause we went ALL over the damn city. From the upper left, to the upper middle, to the lower left, and the center.

Tomorrow I was invited to a BBQ! Tasty. It is at 2 though... I kinda wanted to sleep till 5 : )

I need to find a library. I have about an hour and a half total commute time... I could crank out some hard core reading w/ that much free time. OR buy a Nintendo DS.

I need to start marking all the different concerts and shows I want to see while I am here and make sure I have the money for it all.

More to come...

I have moved into my new apartment now. It is enjoyable. I have a high speed internet line, cable, and some silly stuff like "kitchen stuff and chairs and whatever." The dl speeds are nice : )

I hope to get out and see some of DC today! Tomorrow I have to get to a group meeting or something or other. Time for some counter strike : )

Hip hop + great action! [Aug. 24th, 2005|12:19 am]
[music |2525 by Zager and Evens]

I watched more Samurai Champloo today. I hope to finish it tomorrow, I am enjoying it greatly. There are some crazy cool fights in it! I also downloaded a few more AMV's, but I can't find "Real Ninja's" and that makes me sad.

I have to work tomorrow, but I hope to have 5+ ppl. over to see the end of Samurai Champloo. Anime parties are fun.

4 days of abuse has ended... [Aug. 22nd, 2005|02:35 pm]
[mood | tired]
[music |Eve 6 , because someone took my server to D.C]

I didnt treat my body very well while I was Otakon. It took very good care of me, and all I did was shove cheese steaks and hot dogs into my mouth. It is taking revenge on me now for all of that.

I went to Otakon with 4 friends from High School. We all had a good time, although in our own ways. I didnt actually see too much new anime. That made me sad. On the other hand though...

I did get to see Steamboy. Good movie, although the ending needed to come a bit sooner than it did.

I saw some crazy live action movies as well. Battlefield Baseball was funny, although, I think Ricky O was better ( as a comparison ) and I watched about 1/2 of some movie about a fat, antisocial, sexually upset women kill a whole bunch of people while eating and having sex. wtf.

I had a great time at the masquerades. There were a few that sucked, but for the most part, every skit had me laughing. Good stuff.

The AMVs were also well done. I need to find Nightmare and Naruto Technique Beat. Nightmare was an Eva video (I wont hold that against it...) set to APC - Counting Bodies like sheep to the rythm of the war drums. Crazy creepy song, crazy creepy video. It was a great break from the sad/serious videos that were just *yawn*. Naruto Technique Beat wasn't that great of a 'music' video, but the animation and effects were just damn crazy. Both were alot different than anything I had seen there. Oh, and the 'funny' category was great, as always.

I saw alot of really damn good costumes. Mel from school was a Yuna. A very good looking Yuna! I took pictures of some of my favorite costumes on my phone, but looking at them later, almost every picture is of good looking girls in even better looking costumes. : ) Not 100% girls though, I have a great picture of Link too!

Well, I need to catch up on the Naruto I missed while I was gone. I hope this shot of pure anime/nerd/dorkness is enough to hold me over till next year!
